ORA MAE 'SALLY' ARTERBURY

- Howe - Ora Mae "Sally" Arterbury, 86, died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at I.H.S. of Texoma. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Howe at 2 p.m. Dr. Travis Arterbury and Pastor Roger Tidwell officiated. Pallbearers were Mrs. Arterbury's grandsons. Interment followed at Hall Cemetery in Howe.

Sally was born Sept. 22, 1916, in Blair, OK to Garland Isbell and Lula Adeline Massey. She attended schools in Bolivar. Sally married Elbert Arterbury in Thackerville, OK. They were married for 48 years at the time of his death on Feb. 16, 1980. Sally was a member of the First Baptist Church in Howe. She volunteered in the Auxiliary at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center for 25 years. Sally was employed in the Circulation at the Sherman Democrat Newspaper where she delivered papers in Howe, Van Alstyne and surrounding areas for 35 years. She will be remembered as a loving Mother and Grandmother.

Sally is survived by her daughters, Donna Estes & husband Ron of Sherman and Carolyn Cavender & husband Wayne of Howe; sons, Dr. Elvis Arterbury of Beaumont and Dr. Travis Arterbury & wife Marry Ann of Russellville, Ark.; sister, Lena Murphy of Othello, WA; grandchildren: David Estes & wife Debbie of Sherman; Karen Dupuis & husband Bob of Sherman; Sheri Stettner & husband Peter of Dallas; Michael Arterbury & wife Marla of Austin; Dr. Andy Arterbury & wife Christen of Waco; Brad Arterbury & wife Melissa of Ft. Smith, Ark.; Brian Arterbury & wife Melanie of Rogers, Ark.; Angie Earnhart & husband Mark of Howe and Paul Cavender & wife Kathy of Van Alstyne; great grandchildren: D.J. & Taylor Estes, Caleb & Judd Dupuis, Michael Stettner, Erica & Russell Wortham, Taylor & Hunter Earnhart, Jake, Emily, Abby, Mason, Timothy, Daniel, and Emma Arterbury and Zack Cavender.

Waldo Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.


SAUNDRA KARON CAVENDER

Howe -- Services for Saundra Karen Cavender, 56, were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 30 at the First United Methodist Church in Howe. She died Monday, July 28, 2003, at her residence in Howe.

Ed Lantz and Ralph Burk officiated. Burial followed at Hall Cemetery.

Flesher Funeral Home of Van Alstyne had charge of arrangements.

Saundra was born on Nov. 17, 1946, in Grayson County, Texas, daughter of George and Frankie Cavender.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Howe, Texas.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Surviving are her parents, George and Frankie Cavender of Howe; two brothers, Lynn Cavender and wife, Brenda and Chris Cavender and wife, Laura, all of Howe; one sister, Kay Mills and husband, Tony of Ector, niece, Bethany Mills of Ector; nephews, Tate and Joseph Mills of Ector, Shane Cavender and wife, Paula of Tom Bean, Matt Cavender and wife, Sandy of Howe, Shawn Cavender and wife, Apryl of Biloxi, Miss., Brooks Cavender of Ft. Collins, Colo., Nicholas Cavender and Clark Cavender, both of Howe; four great-nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Uncle Moe and Aunt Wanda Moses of Howe, Aunt Lois Miller of Sulphur Springs, Uncle Murray and Aunt Mary Cole of Houston and Aunt Elizabeth Nicodemus of Dallas; and numerous cousins.
Memorials may be made to Home Hospice.

DONNA BEATRICE WEBB

Van Alstyne -- Services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne for Donna Beatrice Webb, age 85, who died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at her residence in Plano.

Burial followed at Van Alstyne Cemetery.

Surviving are her daughter, Donna Jo Webb of Plano; sons, Ronald Webb of Evansville, Ind. and Christian Webb of Austin; sister, Alma Spencer of Gunter and Wanda Pearce of Richardson; and five grandchildren.

EDWARD F. COX

Collinsville -- Edward F. Cox, 81, died July 26, 2003, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center.

A funeral service for Mr. Cox was held at 10 a.m. July 29 at the Huff Funeral Chapel in Whitesboro. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Les York, Troy York, Michael York, John Knight, Joe Romero, Bill Ridinger. Honorary pallbearers were Travis York and William Lail.

Mr. Cox was born in Cooke County on Aug. 27, 1921, to Alec and Bertha Williams Cox. He married Cleo Anderson in Carrollton, Texas, on April 20, 1946. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Cleo Cox of Collinsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Mickey Matthews of Collinsville, Robin and Al Eddington of Dixie, Texas, and Tammy and Steve Henderson of Denton, Texas; brothers, G.C. Cox of Gainesville and Clyde Cox of Collinsville; grandchildren, Talitha and Les York of Gordonville, Eddie Matthews of Collinsville, Mocha Matthews of Collinsville, William Lail of Ardmore, Okla., Jamie Knight of Ardmore, John Knight of Collinsville, Cindy Henderson of Odessa, and Stephanie Henderson of Odessa; great-grandchildren, Travis and Morgan York of Gordonville, Brent Lail of Ardmore, Claudia Lail of Ardmore, and Shelby Lail of Ardmore.

He also leaves behind three sisters, Bertie Roberts of Collinsville, Edna Tyler of Gainesville, and Gracie Ridinger of Lewsiville; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were under the care of Huff Funeral Home of Whitesboro.

JIMMY 'SHAWN' McMILLION

Arlington – Jimmy "Shawn" McMillion, 39, died Thursday, July 17, 2003 in his residence.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne with Toby Soechting officiating. Burial was in the Van Alstyne cemetery.
Mr. McMillion was born April 22, 1964 in Sherman, the son of Jimmy Don McMillion and Jean Ann Crawford McMillion. He graduated from Howe High School in 1982 and from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1995. While attending Howe High School, he was a member of the Bulldog Marching Band and honors band, all four years of high school. Other activities included various sports and vocational agriculture. He was a member of Howe Church of Christ. He was a Parole Officer with the Texas Department of Corrections. He loved music and going to Texas Rangers games.

Surviving are his parents, Jimmy Don and Jean Ann McMillion of Howe; brothers Jonathan McMillion and wife, Cheryl of Arlington and Joey McMillion of Howe; and grandmother, Emma Jean Crawford of Van Alstyne. He was the grandson of Jean and Douglas Crawford and the late Jones and Ola McMillion of Howe. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was uncle to Ryan, Hunter and Garrett McMillion and friend to Stu Highlander.

Pallbearers were Scott McTee, Jason McTee, Stu Highlander, Kevin Frantz, Rob Hunt, and David Routh.

Arrangements were directed by Flesher Funeral Home.


MARY SUE BROWN

Howe – Graveside services for Mary Sue Brown, 52, of Howe, were on Monday, July 21, 2003 in the Van Alstyne Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Day of the Harvest Time Church of God in Gainesville officiated.

Arrangements were directed by Waldo Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center.

Surviving are her husband, Paul Brown of Howe; one son, Doug Hunter of Howe; one daughter, Patsy Hunter of Howe; her mother, Ora Roland of Van Alstyne; seven grandchildren; four sisters; and two brothers.


NORMAN FRED CARLSON

Norman Fred Carlson, 68, died Thursday, July 10, 2003 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sherman.

Dr. Tom Peel officiated. Interment followed at West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were directed by Waldo Funeral Home.

Norman was born Aug. 5, 1934 in Wheatland, Wyoming, the son of Oscar Carlson and Irene B. Barnes Carlson. He attended schools in Trinidad, Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He married Janet Fisher on Dec. 21, 1958 in Trinidad. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Texoma Rockhounds, Texoma Chordringers Barbershop Chorus, and the Masonic Lodge in Howe. He retired from Texas Instruments after 20 years of employment. He also served in the Army from 1954 to 1957.

Surviving Norman are his wife, Janet Carlson of Sherman; daughters, Margaret White and husband Eddie of Sherman, and Linda Hallmark and husband Larry of Sherman; son, David Carlson of Sherman; brother, George Carlson of California; grandchildren, Mindy Hall of Sherman, Christopher Hall of Denton, Monica Bailey of Durant, and Michael Bailey of Sherman; great-grandchild, Harley Bailey of Durant; cousin, Bonnie Short of Denver, Colo.; and one aunt, Mabel Artery and husband Cleve of Wheatland, Wyo.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 401 N. Elm, Sherman, TX 75090.


MARISUE RICHARDSON GROSS

Graveside services for Marisue Richardson Gross, 90, were held Monday at the Willow Wild Cemetery with the Rev. Don Griffith officiating.

She died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.

Surviving are her grandson, Rod Wesley Gross of Howe; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were directed by Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home of Bonham.
